Humans in the Loop, LLC ("Sit", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, the legal basis for processing, and the rights you have — including rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the CAN-SPAM Act.

2. Information We Collect
Waitlist & Marketing: When you join our waitlist, we collect your email address, the timestamp of your consent, and the source of your signup (e.g., website form). This data is stored in our database (Supabase) and used solely to send you launch updates and occasional product emails.
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. Your display name is used only for personalization within the app and is never shared with third parties.
Session Preferences: We store your meditation preferences (duration, style, voice, soundscape) locally on your device and on our servers to improve your experience.
Usage Data: We collect anonymous usage data such as session counts, durations, and feature usage to improve the app. This data cannot be used to identify you.
We do NOT collect:
- Your meditation topic text (processed in memory, never stored)
- Generated meditation scripts (discarded after audio generation)
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, or other device data
- Health or biometric data
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Consent: When you submit your email to join our waitlist or sign up for marketing communications. You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or contacting us.
- Contract: When we process data necessary to provide the Sit app and its features to you (account creation, session generation, practice tracking).
- Legitimate interest: When we process anonymous, aggregated usage data to improve our service. This processing does not override your rights or freedoms.
4. How We Use Your Information
- Marketing emails: If you joined our waitlist, we will send you launch updates and occasional product emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. We will never send you marketing emails without your prior consent.
- Personalization: Your display name may be woven into guided meditation scripts. It is anonymized before being sent to any AI service — we replace it with a generic placeholder.
- Session Generation: Your selected preferences (style, duration, position) are sent to our servers to generate custom meditation audio. Topic text is processed in memory and never logged or stored.
- Practice Tracking: Session history is stored to show your meditation progress within the app.
- Service Improvement: Anonymous, aggregated usage data helps us improve features and performance.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to provide the app. Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where these providers operate:
- Anthropic (Claude API): Generates meditation scripts. Receives anonymized session parameters only — no personal information. Based in the United States.
- Inworld AI: Converts meditation scripts to spoken audio. Receives script text only — no personal information.
- Google Cloud Storage: Hosts generated meditation audio files. Files are identified by random IDs with no link to your identity.
- RevenueCat: Manages subscriptions. Receives only your anonymous app user ID and purchase data from Apple/Google.
- Supabase: Provides authentication and database services. Stores your email, display name, session history, and consent records. Based in the United States.
- Cloudflare: Provides DNS, CDN, and network security. May process IP addresses in transit.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
6. International Data Transfers
If you are located outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States where our servers and service providers are located. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. By using our service or submitting your email, you acknowledge this transfer.
7. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Generated audio files are stored with random identifiers that cannot be traced back to you without access to our database.
8. Data Retention
- Waitlist emails: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- Consent records: Retained for as long as necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable law, even after you unsubscribe.
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Session history: Retained until you delete your account.
- Generated audio files: Automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Meditation scripts: Never stored. Discarded immediately after audio generation.
- Topic text: Never stored. Processed in memory only.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data. You can delete your account through the app settings or by contacting us. For waitlist emails, contact us or use the unsubscribe link.
- Portability: Request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Restriction: Request that we restrict processing of your personal data under certain conditions.
- Objection: Object to our processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent: Where we rely on consent (e.g., marketing emails), you may withdraw consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
We will respond to all data rights requests within 30 days. If you are in the EEA and believe we have not adequately addressed your concerns, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt out of the sale of personal information — we do not sell your personal information
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

11. Email Communications & CAN-SPAM
We comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and international email marketing laws. All marketing emails we send will:
- Identify Humans in the Loop, LLC as the sender with a valid physical address
- Include a clear, working unsubscribe mechanism
- Use accurate subject lines and sender information
- Honor unsubscribe requests promptly (within 10 business days or sooner)
You will never receive marketing emails from us unless you have provided your email through our waitlist or account signup. We do not purchase email lists.
12. Children's Privacy
Sit is not directed at children under 16 (or under 13 in the United States). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. The "Effective" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
